The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
The north side of the square is entirely lit by torches mounted in sconces on the columns along the front of the royal palace. The palace itself has been built on a stone platform, to raise it above the level of the square, increasing the sense of physical size it already has. Huge columns supporting the roof and forming a colonnade along the front wall are painted with hieroglyphics, as is the front of the stone platform. The square spreads out into the darkness to the south and east lit by other torches along the surrounding wall. The torches also illuminate the statues of past pharaohs and other royalty that watch over the square. To the west yet more torches illuminate the wide marble steps leading up to the main doors of the palace.
It is a chilly Sog’s night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are three obvious exits: east, south and west.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
The sheer number of torches here makes it seem like the sun barely set. The light illuminates the grand marble steps leading up to the palace entrance and reflects off of the great bronze doors. The palace dominates the square and here in the centre of the north side its imposing form makes looking at anything else almost impossible. Massive stone pillars flank the entrance supporting a vast lintel, made from a single, huge, block of marble embossed with the cartouche of the Pteppicymon dynasty. To the south, in front of the palace, the square spreads out in all directions while to the east and west the palace stretches out on either side of the main entrance.

The wall surrounding the Square of the Ancestors casts deep shadows over this part of the square at night. Large, embossed brass torches have been placed within golden sconces around the wall and create pools of dim light on the sandstone walls and the ground around them. The vast statues of the pharaohs seem even more imposing at night. The flickering torch light catches the features of the statues and forms strange shadows on them. The sense of them having watched over the city for millennia is almost palpable in the darkness. The gate itself is lit by two larger torches which means that the exit to the Road of the Sun beyond them to the east is cast into almost total darkness. The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
For some reason this part of the square seems particularly lonely at night. The square is nowhere near as busy as it used to be in the past, day or night, and in the dark it feels almost neglected. The torches burning on the walls cast flickering pools of light over the stonework that highlight the fact that there is no-one here. Across the square to the north the torches along the front of the palace shine in the darkness, picking out the carvings and hieroglyphics on the columns and other stone work. The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
Here in the southwest corner of the square there’s not much going on. Shadows cast by the walls fill the area and little else remains to be seen. The torches flicker in their sconces, casting strange mixtures of light and shadow over the statues, making them seem almost alive. Given recent history in the city, what with the dead getting up and wandering about the place and gods deciding to manifest themselves in earthly form left right and centre, that’s not as far fetched as it seems.
It is a very chilly Sog’s night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are two obvious exits: east and north.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
To the south the lights of the Djelian Guard headquarters can be seen and the rest of it could be heard, and smelled, by simply walking in that direction. To the west the square heads off into the distance in front of the palace itself.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
At night this way into the Square of Ancestors is lit by torches on either side of the huge triumphal arch, the Gate of the Pharaohs, that connects the Square with the Avenue of the Pharaohs. The arch casts deep shadows across this part of the square and strange shapes form in them created by the reflection of the light from the carvings on it. To the north the imposing frontage of the Palace is lit by more torches. To the east and west the square spreads out into the darkness, watched over by the statues of past royalty that stand around its edge.

To the west lies the far corner of the square while to the east more torches illuminate the triumphal arch marking the entrance to the square from the Avenue of the Pharaohs.

This part of the square is mostly used as a means of getting to other parts. To the east the sights, sounds and smells of the Djelian Guard await those who choose to enter. To the west a great triumphal arch, the Gate of the Pharaohs, marks the spot where The Avenue of the Pharaohs enters the square. Otherwise the only reason for being here would be to look at the huge statues that line the square. Lit by torches burning in sconces on the great sandstone wall that surrounds the square they look out north across the square towards the palace on the far side.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
The Avenue of the Pharaohs is one of the major thoroughfares through Djelibeybi. To the north it enters the Square of the Ancestors and to the south it meets the commercial district. During the day the wide road is bustling with life, but by night it lies still, almost deserted. Shadows criss-cross over the lovely mosaic on the street from the pillars and statues that line both sides of it.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
At this point the Avenue of the Pharaohs is as impressive as a very impressive street. It is very wide and littered with statues, pillars and a lovely mosaic. It is designed to hold an entire victory parade with the pharaoh, golden chariots and a thousand elephants if needed. At night though, with a total lack of elephants, the avenue is a little too wide and has a slightly eerie feeling to it.
It is a very chilly Sog's night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are three obvious exits: north, south and west.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
South of the junction with Market Street and Phoenix Road the Avenue of the Pharaohs enters the Bazaar. At night however, the street is very empty and very still and full of dark spots under statues and between houses where absolutely anything could be hiding, watching, waiting. Not that there is; what could possibly want to hide in dark places and stalk people?
A large tent stall made predominantly of some sort of earthy brown hessian has been set up here.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
This is the eastern end of Market Street, which snakes along the northern edge of the dark and deserted bazaar to the west. To the east lies the junction with the Avenue of the Pharaohs and Phoenix Road, which looks almost as quiet. A tall and severe-looking building casts a mildly frightening silhouette against the sky to the north, towering over you. Its windows are lit up like glaring eyes, and every so often its door opens to spit out a miserable-looking person who hurries off into the darkness.
It is a very chilly Sog's night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.

The bank of Djelibeybi looks posh, yet sombre, in the way of banks everywhere. The idea is to give the impression that of course the bank is doing well (look at the nice leather chairs) but at the same time convey the image of an establishment that takes the money people confide in them very seriously and not one that would ever spend it on such frivolous luxuries as, say, leather armchairs. It’s not easy being a banker. There are a number of counters here with serious-looking people behind them that wait to take a customer’s money, and some of those nice leather armchairs to recline in while waiting.

The north side of the square is entirely lit by torches mounted in sconces on the columns along the front of the royal palace. The palace itself has been built on a stone platform, to raise it above the level of the square, increasing the sense of physical size it already has.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
To the west lies the far corner of the square while to the east more torches illuminate the triumphal arch marking the entrance to the square from the Avenue of the Pharaohs.
It is a very chilly Sog’s night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
To the south the lights of the Djelian Guard headquarters can be seen and the rest of it could be heard, and smelled, by simply walking in that direction. To the west the square heads off into the distance in front of the palace itself.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
At night the splendid entrance to the Djelian Guard is lit by torches, placed in sconces on the two, huge, hieroglyph covered, stone pillars on either side of the arched entrance. The light from the torches illuminates this part of the Square of Ancestors. The bronze doors of the Guard stand open and shine in the torch light beneath the massive triangular stone slab that the pillars are supporting. To the north and west the square spreads out in front of the palace, the massive statues along the sides of it standing watch in the darkness.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
At night the Avenue of Pharaohs gets very, very empty. Of course, most streets are empty at night but since this one is at least twice as wide as a normal one it feels at least twice as empty. All along the sides of the avenue magnificent sandstone pillars and colossal statues loom over anyone who might venture to tread upon the beautiful mosaic depicting an important moment in Djelian history.
It is a very chilly Sog’s night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are two obvious exits: north and south.
Wadi Bedhead is fighting here.

The land is lit up by the eerie light of the full moon.
At night the statues and pillars lining the Avenue of the Pharaohs loom awe-inspiringly over the few people who scurry along the street, probably on their way to somewhere less eerie and empty. The avenue joins up with the Square of the Ancestors to the north and to the south runs through the commercial district, the heart of Djelibeybi these days. Temple Street runs off to the west and Ibis Parade to the east.
It is a very chilly Sog's night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
There are four obvious exits: south, north, east and west.
Wadi Bedhead and a poor tramp are standing here.

It is a very chilly Sog’s night with a strong breeze and a beautifully clear sky.
